A Summerville woman told police she was assaulted Monday by two female suspects who showed up at her front door saying they “came to fight,” a report shows.
The incident began around 8:40 p.m. when the suspects allegedly forced their way into the victim’s apartment after she twice tried to keep them out, according to the report.
One suspect swung at the woman and missed, but the other suspect grabbed her from behind and began choking her, the report states.
At one point, one suspect asked the other if she had “the thing,” the victim told police. The other suspect replied, “No, it’s in the car,” the victim said.
Both suspects then exited the apartment and fled in a silver Pontiac Grand Am, the report states.
A 14-year-old girl in the apartment, who also reported being attacked, gave police a similar account regarding “the thing.” Neither victim knew what exactly “the thing” is, the report shows.
The victims were given notification of protective measures forms to sign and informed of the warrant process.
Fishy theft
A 77-year-old woman told a sheriff’s deputy April 2 that her two daughters went into her house and stole a stuffed, wall-mounted fish and approximately 50 family photographs, according to a report.
The woman said her daughters, who don’t live with her, entered the house without her permission by using a key kept outside. She told the deputy she was unsure if she wanted to press charges against them.
One daughter admitted to entering the house and said she was advised by her attorney to do so, the report states.
In response, the deputy informed her of the laws pertaining to burglary and said, “it was not the attorney that would face charges” for the alleged crime, according to the report.
Family forgery
An elderly Summerville woman met with police last week to report that her 39-year-old son wrote bad checks using her checking account during a time she was in and out of the hospital, a report shows.
The woman said she wrote pre-signed checks so that her son — who lives with her — could pay bills and buy food for the home while she was in the hospital. But instead, he wrote two checks each for $600 cash and two checks for nearly $140 worth of pizza, the report shows.
She checked the history of activity on her account, and learned of the bad checks, after receiving a call from a representative of the pizza chain threatening to take legal action if she didn’t make good on the bounced checks, she said.
She said the bank advised her to file a police report. After she told the son she was notifying police — and after a failed attempt to speak with him about the bad checks — the son left home, she said.
He hasn’t returned since, she said.
Bedding stolen
An unknown thief, possibly an employee, allegedly stole close to $8,000 worth of bedding and cleaning supplies from a residential care facility, a Summerville police report shows.
The facility’s administrator said the items stolen between March 31 and April 10 included 80 bedspreads, floor cleaning solution, floor wax, toilet paper, hand towels, wash clothes and bath towels, the report states.
The administrator asked that a detective call her and meet with her to do a complete security check of the building and property so as to prevent future thefts and provide better security, according to the report.
