A Dorchester County sheriff’s deputy filed a report April 11 detailing how a 41-year-old man allegedly exposed himself at the deputy’s front door, a report shows.
Around 10:50 p.m. there was a knock on the door of the deputy’s town home. After telling his 13-year-old niece not to open it, the deputy came downstairs with his backup weapon, a 9mm handgun, and opened the door to see who was there, according to the report.
The suspect was standing at the front door with his (private part) in his hand, the deputy writes. The suspect looked up, saw the deputy, let go of his (private part) and said, “I must have the wrong address,” the deputy writes.
When the deputy asked the suspect to identify himself, he said he didn’t do anything wrong, according to the deputy.
“I told him that he had his [private part] in his hand while he was knocking on my door so there is definitely something wrong,” the deputy writes.
The suspect first claimed he didn’t have identification but he would later be identified by a state ID card found in his pocket, the report shows.
The suspect fled as the deputy was trying to get a pair of handcuffs from his patrol car, the report states. The deputy pursued the suspect on foot before going across a ditch and jumping a fence, he writes.
After the deputy called for assistance, he and another deputy were unable to locate the man, the report shows.

A Ladson woman dialed 911 after a bullet ripped through her ceiling and into the wall behind the couch she was sitting on, an April 11 sheriff’s office report shows.
The woman said she heard a loud bang and then heard something hit the wall near her head. She said she saw a hole in the ceiling and a hole in the wall. She thought someone shot at her, so she called police.
As the report shows, she wasn’t exactly correct, but she wasn’t far off either. The bullet was inadvertently fired from a neighboring apartment.
Three people in the upstairs apartment were talking about firearms when one of them was handed the still-cocked firearm and it discharged a single round through the floor into the apartment below, according to the report.
The reporting deputy observed a hole in the floor and located the firearm as well as a spent shell casing, the report states.
The firearm and casing were submitted as evidence, the report shows. Everyone involved submitted written statements. The woman in the downstairs apartment declined treatment by EMS, according to the report.
