A murder case from 1988 is getting a fresh look from the North Charleston Police Department and the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service Cold Case Unit.

Beth Ann Cameron, a 24-year-old sailor stationed at the former Charleston Naval base assigned to the submarine tender USS Holland was last seen alive on Dec. 17, 1987 at a North Charleston apartment complex. Her body was found in the woods off Crossroads Drive in North Charleston, not far from that complex, on Jan. 1, 1988.

At the time, detectives developed several persons of interest but unfortunately, the leads in the case went cold.

Recently, investigators learned Cameron was affiliated with a company known as Sugar and Spice, an escort service based out of North Charleston and that previous employees of the company may have information about her murder. Investigators are currently looking for other people who, while not being involved or having anything to do with Cameron’s death, may have served on the Holland or other submarine tenders in Charleston at the time and may have information or details that might be of assistance.

Anyone with any information about this case should call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
