Larceny and more larceny…
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to several calls about larceny around business and commercial areas.
The manager of Prax Air on Ashley Phosphate Road reported that someone cut the chain link fence and stole a welder machine on a trailer worth around $13,000. The gate to the property was locked and deputies noted tire tracks running the length of the fence to the point where it was cut. The property has no video cameras.
In a separate incident, an employee of Cricket Mobile Communications reported that someone cut the fence around the cell tower located on Industrial Boulevard in Summerville and stole all the ground wires and grounding plates. The total value is estimated at $1,800.
In another incident, the owner of Holly’s Body Canvass on Dorchester Road reported that four subjects he had employed entered the building and stole several items, including computer equipment, household goods, and other such items worth more than $11,000. The business is closing and they are being evicted from the building so he advised the employees to come and retrieve personal belongings and tools.
However, when he arrived at the business the following day, he found that a number of items owned by the business were missing, including two tattoo chairs, two metal chairs, a computer and accessories, and miscellaneous office and cleaning supplies. No damage was done to the building and all the employees had keys. A witness reported seeing some of the employees loading items from the business into their personal vehicles.
Running man…
A Summerville woman reported that she was opening a window in her residence when she looked out and saw an unknown white male subject sitting in a chair on her patio. She said he told her he was having problems with his girlfriend and then ran away.
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office would receive several calls with regard to this individual running through yards throughout the neighborhood.
An officer eventually located the subject running along Owens Drive and stopped him. He asked what the subject was doing and the subject replied he was running because he was having problems with his girlfriend. The officer noted the subject’s eyes looked dilated and he appeared to be under the influence of some unknown intoxicant. As the subject would not disclose what it was, the officer had EMS check him. The subject declined medical treatment and since the officer could not determine whether the subject had committed a crime, he gave him a ride to his residence.
