Summerville Journal Scene ®
Hungry thief
A Summerville woman reported that someone stole some meat from her freezer. She said a neighbor advised her that a 49 year old black male who had been doing construction work for her at her residence sold several frozen meat items while she was gone from her residence for a few days. Items she said were stolen included four bottles of barbecue sauce, a 10-pound bag of chicken leg quarters, a 10 pound bag of chicken wings, a package of T bone steaks, an eight pack of pork chops, two slabs of pork ribs and 10 pounds of ground beef.
The woman says she wants to press charges.
Nabbed
Officers responding to a call about a suspicious person on Marquis Drive found a 20-year-old Summerville man at the side of a residence. He said he was with his girlfriend and had come outside to lock his car. However, the officer ran a warrants check and discovered the man was wanted by the Summerville Police Department and Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. They arrested the man on the warrants, and then went to speak to the complainant.
The complainant reported looking out a window and seeing a man matching the subject’s description trying to pry open a window on a neighbor’s residence. Outside that window the officer found two screwdrivers, a freshly smoked cigarette butt, and pieces of the window casing; they also found a flashlight in the area where they first made contact with the subject.
Rude awakening
A 47-year-old Ladson woman said she had fallen asleep on her couch and had left her front door unlocked. At some point, a 47-year-old North Charleston woman walked into her residence uninvited and awakened her. The victim said the subject, who is the victim’s ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend, was very intoxicated and was being loud and disruptive, accusing the victim of sleeping with the ex-boyfriend. At one point, the subject approached the victim, grabbed her head, and forced it to her chest.
The victim said she has filed charges against the subject in the past.
Bad boyfriend
A Ladson woman went on vacation and had her boyfriend watch her house and feed her animals for her.
Unfortunately, when she returned, she found he had stolen a cash advance check sent to her from her credit card company, forged her name, and cashed it. She did not realize this, however, until she saw it on her credit card statement, along with a $110 transaction service fee.
She confronted the man and asked what he did with the money. He said he had needed it to pay back child support and would pay her back since he had just gotten a new job.
