Investigators allege: Defendant broke into a jewelry store on South Main Street in Summerville by throwing a brick through the glass front door, then broke into several display cases and stole $14,220 worth of jewelry items. Defendant later gave a statement to a detective with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department describing how they conducted several burglaries in a similar fashion but stopped after seeing a surveillance video of themselves on television. At the time of defendant’s arrest, he was wearing shoes similar to the shoes worn by a subject depicted in the video.

Investigators allege: Defendant presented a check in the amount of $400 to Wachovia bank in Summerville. The check was written on an account belonging to someone else without the victims’ knowledge or permission. Defendant was captured on surveillance video doing the transaction and was also identified through his driver’s license photograph.
