Date: Between March 2 and March 4, 2010

Time of day: Between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Items stolen: Jewelry

Total value: $1,262

Incident report details: The complainant reported that she last saw her Eastern Star ring, necklace and charm, located on her bedroom dresser, at 8 a.m. March 2. She said on March 4 she was packing for a trip when she noticed the necklace and charm missing and could not find them. She said there were no signs of forced entry to her residence but she did find the front door unlocked one day and believes her children may have left it unlocked.

Type of theft: Burglary

Location: 435 North Cedar Street, Summerville

Date: Between Feb. 27 and March 1, 2010

Time of day: between noon and 8 a.m.

Items stolen: Cash, jewelry

Total value: $1,000

Incident report details: Complainant, an employee of a doctor’s office, reported that someone had taken a drawer from the office safe and an undetermined amount of cash, as well as a diamond ring. The back door had been kicked in and the safe showed signs of forced entry. The complainant later reported that a customer had called after hours and left an irate message demanding his prescription. Investigators were able to lift fingerprints, but the office had no surveillance or alarm system. The complainant also stated the customer should not have called the office for his prescription, as he receives his through Medicaid.

Location: Carriage Ride Lane, Summerville

Date: Between Feb. 18 and Feb. 19, 2010

Time of day: Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Items stolen: Electronic equipment

Total value: $1,500

Incident report details: Complainant reported she was watching the victim’s house while he was away and was checking on the house and noticed that the back door was open. She called the owner of the house, who described what should have been in the house before the crime occurred. There was no sign of forced entry, but someone could have reached through a pet door and unlocked the door.

Responding agency: Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office
