Type of theft: Armed robbery Location: Luden Drive (outside fire station) Date: June 17 Time of day: 12:06 a.m. Item stolen: Portable video game console Total value: $50 Details: Victim said he was with two friends when four unknown suspects approached them and asked about marijuana; before the victim could answer, they pulled out two guns and told him, “Give me everything you got.” They took the video game console and fled on foot toward Boykin Creek. Suspect(s): Black males; no other descriptions provided. Responding agency: Summerville Police Department Type of theft: Armed robbery Location: Clover Avenue (Challedon) Date: June 12 Time of day: 3:03 p.m. Items stolen: Wallet and contents Total value: $76 Details: Victim had blood running form his eye and the bridge of his nose when police arrived. He said he was sitting in his living room when a man came into his house, put a kitchen knife to his throat and said, “Give me your money.” Victim said he did not have any money and grabbed his cell phone. Suspect slapped the phone from his hand and punched him in the face before taking the wallet from his front pocket. He ran through the victim’s backyard and jumped over the fence. Suspect(s): Black male; 17-18 years old; 5’8” and 150 pounds. Responding agency: Summerville Police Department Type of theft: Attempted armed robbery Location: Econo Lodge on Holiday Drive Date: June 18 Time of day: 9:30 a.m. Items stolen: None Total value: N/A Details: Suspect entered the lobby and passed the clerk a note indicating he had a gun and directing her to put money in the bag he also handed to her; clerk pleaded with suspect not to go ahead with the robbery because, “there is a little girl in the bathroom and you are on camera.” Suspect kept insisting the clerk put the money in the bag, but she and the clerk kept telling him he did not need to do this. When the clerk went to unlock the cash drawer, the suspect thought it was an alarm and screamed, “No! Don’t call anyone!” After asking once more for the money, the suspect became frustrated and ultimately fled on foot with the note and the bag. Suspect(s): Black male; 30-35 years old; 6’ and 190 pounds. Responding agency: Summerville Police Department Type of theft: Burglary Location: Longleaf Drive (off Farmhill Road) Date: June 17 Time of day: 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Items stolen: Guns, jewelry and cash Total value: $7,600 Details: Victim returned home to find his dogs inside; he checked to see how they had entered and discovered the back door open; the door had been forced open, as had his gun safe; the door to the master bedroom, which is kept locked, was forced open and there were scratch marks on the door frame; a fork with bent tines was located in the kitchen Suspect(s): None Responding agency: Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Contact David Berman at 873-9424 ext. 214 or dberman@journalscene.com
