Alexandr Dzyubinsky will return as guest violin soloist at Summerville Community Orchestra’s opening concert “From Bach to Broadway” on October 25 at Northwood Baptist Church and on October 26 at Summerville Baptist Church.  Dzyubinsky gave an astounding and dynamic performance at last season’s concert finale in May 2012.  For “From Bach to Broadway” Dzyubinsky will perform the solo part in Swan Lake.
Allen Hendricks, current Concertmaster for the SCO, will be featured violin soloist in “Meditation,” a soulful instrumental interlude from Massenet’s opera “Thais,” which reveals a courtesan’s inward struggle to forsake hedonism and embrace a life of piety.
Again this season, Maestro Alexander Agrest, SCO’s music director and conductor, will bring his personality and musical passion which translate to the orchestra as well as the audience, who find him to be “a show within as show.”
The musical program for the opening concert, “From Bach to Broadway,” includes works from Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky, and Massenet, a Salute to Big Bands and medleys from “Les Mis” and “Wicked.”
MeadWestvaco is the title sponsor for SCO’s 10th Anniversary season.  All performances of the 4-concert series are at 7:30 PM – on Thursdays at Northwood Baptist Church and on Fridays at Summerville Baptist Church.  New this season at 6:30 PM are 30-minute Pre-Concert Talks– informal discussions about the composers and music, led by an entertaining musicologist.
Summerville Community Orchestra engages our community in the powerful experience of live orchestral music.  Season tickets ($35.00 adult, under 18 free) and single concert tickets ($10.00 adult) can be purchased by phone (843) 873-5339, online at www.SummervilleOrchestra.com or at the door.
