Summerville Catholic School was recently award new tennis rackets and tennis balls thanks to funding that the city of Charleston received after being named the "Best Tennis Town" in 2010. The League reviewed dozens of grant applications looking for tennis organizations that promote an interest in the game of tennis, support the USTA League in the Charleston area, and maintain the rules of play and high standards of sportsmanship. Committee chair Nancy Pitcairn visited Summerville Catholic School and presented the rackets and tennis balls to Principal Lisa Tanner and several of the school's tennis players.
