Thirty-three Dorchester School District Two seventh-graders have received state recognition for their academic achievement in the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) and have been named 2009 Junior Scholars.
The Duke Tip and Talent Search identifies students in the Southeast who have scored in the 95th percentile on a grade-level achievement test. There were 143 students from Dorchester School District Two middle schools who qualified to participate in the Duke TIP program. Those students took the above-level college entrance exams (SAT or ACT) and 33 students scored at or above the national average on at least one part of the SAT or ACT. Rollings Middle School of the Arts student Clayton Otter scored in the top 2 percent of all TIP participants qualifying him for Grand Recognition achievement level.

DuBose Middle School- Bethany Eaton, Diamante Houser, Taylor Powell, Cassandra Sobers.
Gregg Middle School - James Dennis, James Gonzales, Chandler Reece.
Oakbrook Middle School- Cameron Arnold, Andrew Samuels, Jessica Swartz.
Rollings Middle School of the Arts – Renee Bourgeois, Luna Boseman, William Cotton, Morgan Gonzales, Jay Harness, Cameron Kunce, Harrison Leiendecker, Christopher Loe, Michael Andrew McCullough, Olivia Musselman, Madison Nettles, Clayton Otter, Pranab Sachithanadan, Mary Welsh, Alfred Westley, Rebecca Wood.
River Oaks Middle School – Aaron Gaynor, Nicholas Hestir, Alexis Hoffman.
