  • Monday, January 14, 2013

Newington Elementary School recently celebrated earning a report card rating of excellent for the third year in a row. Students pictured scored perfect scores and/or had the highest score in one of 4 categories on the PASS test. They are surrounded by some of the teachers who have instructed them during their career at Newington.

Student and staff at Newington Elementary School celebrated the recent “excellent” school report card rating earned by the school for the third consecutive year. The results of the school’s 2012 PASS scores, indicate that Newington is a school of excellence. During the celebration Friday morning, Principal Cammy Groome shared with the student body and parents gathered in the media center that 298 of the school’s 3rd-5th graders scored exemplary in one or more areas on last year’s assessment. In addition, 30 students were recognized as the school’s Royal Court, Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses of PASS, for having scored either the highest score in an area of the test or for scoring perfect scores.  Former 5th graders were invited back to the school to participate in the celebration and to receive recognition along with the current 4th and 5th graders being honored.  Following the introduction of the Royal Court, a school parade of all students with exemplary scores was held while classrooms lined the hallways to dance and high-five the Excellent Leaders.   In addition, classroom lessons and activities for the day were centered around the theme of Excellence. Newington Elementary School appreciates the excellent team effort of our students, staff, and parents, and the support of our Excellent School District!
