Chelsea Ex-Lubeskie, a Goose Creek native and a 2007 graduate of Northwood Academy, has been recognized by the national Collegiate Inventors Competition for work conducted with teammates while studying at Clemson University.
Chelsea and three other students at Clemson tackled the problem of developing a new way to keep the shoulder joint stable after a dislocation, focusing on the needs of athletes. Their work resulted in their Hi-Impact Shoulder Stabilization Brace.
Chelsea graduated from Clemson this past spring and is now in graduate school at Clemson, working towards both a Masterís degree in bioengineering. With her teammates, she is intent on making the shoulder brace a product in the orthotics industry. Her parents, Steve Lubeskie and Joyce Ex, continue to live in Goose Creek.
All of this yearís finalists will meet in the Washington, DC area on Nov. 12-13, when the competition will culminate with final judging and the announcement of the winners.†
