SCS students spread peace

Students from Summerville Catholic School joined thousands of people around the world in an annual peace building movement sponsored by the United Nations Sept. 21. Students in grades K4-8 wrote a prayer for peace on a dove then added the prayer to a large globe during the peace ceremony. Only by spreading the idea of a culture of peace can we hope to create lasting change. In the words of Martin Luther King, "Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at our goals." Pictured is Student Council President Haile Bennett helping first-grader Dominic Coffman hang his dove on the globe.
