Sorority group donates school supplies

School items were recently donated to Joseph R. Pye Elementary School, Ladson for their 743-student body.
Members of Laureate Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi collected and donated more than $150 worth of necessary school supplies.

Shanna Mitchell, accepted the donated items for the Pye Elementary supply closet.
“The items will be in the supply closet for all teachers and their students.” She said that they were already running out of some of the items.
This is just one of the numerous service projects that the Laureate Zeta Chapter undertakes to support local organizations. The chapter also recently donated over 50 magazines, bed-liners and adult diapers to the residents of Hallmark Health Care Center in Summerville.
Beta Sigma Phi is an International social sorority and is a by invitation only group with nine chapters in the Charleston area. The purpose is to provide women with a social outlet, a cultural forum, and service
opportunities. Chapters donate between 200 and 300,000 hours of time each year to charitable causes and raise more than $2 million yearly.
