Cadet Andrew White, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas White of Summerville, recently completed the Navy Junior ROTC’s Aerospace and Technology Leadership Seminar, which was conducted at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. from June 15–19. Cadet White, a rising senior and the Cadet Commander of Summerville’s Navy JROTC Green-Wave Battalion, was among 500 cadets selected from NJROTC units nationwide to attend the seminar. These cadets excel in math and science and have demonstrated superior leadership within their unit and schools. While at Embry-Riddle, White had an opportunity to participate in numerous aeronautical classes. The purpose of the leadership seminars is to place the cadets in a challenging environment in which they experience a college-level curriculum to spur their interest in continuing their education and potentially pursuing a future in the Navy.
