The faculty of Windsor Hill Arts Infused Elementary recently hosted noted Arts Educator, author and presenter Dr. Claudia Cornett at the school’s January District Staff Development Day.

“She has visited and observed our classes on other occasions, so we were very excited to be able to have her with us for an entire day,” Principal Vernisa Y. Bodison said.

Dr. Cornett earned her masters degree in literacy and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Miami University.  She holds the rank of Professor Emerita at Wittenberg University, where she directed the Blair Reading Center and taught courses in literacy methodology, literature and arts integration.  She has written numerous books and articles on literacy, specifically best practices for comprehension, and arts integration. Her most recent book is a 4th edition of Creating Meaning through Literature and the Arts, a book that has become “the Bible for Arts Integration” at Windsor Hill, WHAIES Title I Specialist Carolyn Thomas said.

Besides writing, research, and doing keynote speaking, Dr. Cornett previously has been involved with television productions on early literacy and arts integration, which are now archived on YouTube.

Dr. Cornett now resides in Lebanon, Ohio with her retired superintendent husband, Charles, and enjoys traveling, theatre, dancing, boating, antiques and of course, lots of reading.
