Charleston Southern University students Adriana Barrero and Adriana Fiscella spent most of their volunteer time removing nails and measuring plywood at the new ReStore site.
Seventeen Charleston Southern University students volunteered two Saturdays in February laboring on a Habitat for Humanity construction site in Jedburg. Their goal –– to complete the porch on a 23,000-foot ReStore facility.
The Habitat for Humanity project was part of a CSU service initiative, Catalyst, which encourages students to be involved in the local community. Adriana Fiscella, a freshman predental major from Virginia volunteers whenever she can. “My parents instilled in me to see the good in volunteering,” said Fiscella. “I feel I am making a difference when I volunteer.”

A ministry team from Charleston Southern University recently participated in a week of evangelism in Baltimore, Md. The group, led by campus minister Clark Carter partnered with Embrace Baltimore, a two-year emphasis by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
“This was the most diverse group I have ever taken on a missions trip,” said Carter, “ The great thing was that God used all of us to minister in a powerful way to the people of Baltimore.”

Charleston Southern University has established a scholarship in honor of Justin Cope, a former Oakbrook Elementary School teacher who passed away last year.

In 2004 Justin graduated from Charleston Southern cum laude with a degree in music education. He began his teaching career at Oakbrook Elementary and very quickly became one of the school’s most popular and loved teachers.
