DNR hosts teachers for adventure workshop

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources has invited teachers from Berkeley, Dorchester, Georgetown and Horry counties to participate in a free, four-day adventure workshop in June.

The ACE Basin Adventure starts Wednesday, June 11 and lasts through Saturday, June 14 in the Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto Basin in Colleton County.

Teachers will spend three evenings in the ACE Basin and participate in land-based classroom activities and field-based programs throughout the weekend. Lodging and meals will be provided.

The workshop program supports state standard curriculum guidelines and will allow teachers to use information, ideas and activities within their own classrooms.

Interested teachers of all subjects of grades 6-12 are encouraged to apply. No prior experiences in the ACE Basin necessary for participation.

For an application or more information, contact S.C. Department of Natural Resources Media Relations Coordinator Anna Martin at (843) 953-3367 or MartinA@dnr.sc.gov; or visit the department’s Web site www.dnr.sc.gov/ccd. Space is limited to 15 participants and deadline for submission is April 1.
