The game was a defensive battle from the get go. After a scoreless quarter, Summerville’s Kevin Dickinson intercepted a Swamp Fox pass and returned it 46 yards for a touchdown. However, the extra-point kick was no good.
Midway through the third quarter, Ashley Ridge’s Sean White broke free for a 35-yard touchdown run. Jordan Freund added the extra-point kick for the one-point Swamp Fox lead.
Summerville later had interceptions from David Kennedy and Dickinson, but couldn’t convert them into scores.
After the game, Swamp Fox JV coach Nate Harris said the key to the game was that defensive coordinator Jeff Plane had the Swamp Fox defense properly prepared and the unit spurred the victory.
