A: The most common causes of foot and ankle pain include a multitude of issues. The most common are athletic injuries including turf toe, ankle sprains, ankle fractures or stress fractures. Arthritis can also lead to many issues in the foot and ankle. Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis can cause complex problems in the foot. Lastly forefoot issues are common (especially in women) including bunions, bunionettes, and hammertoes.
