A: Robotic assisted surgery allows a physician to perform surgical procedures that would usually be performed through a 6-8 inch incision and perform that surgery through several small 1/2 - 1 inch incisions. This results in significantly less post operative pain and a quicker recovery time.  Also the precision of the daVinci robot allows a surgeon to perform even very difficult surgeries laprascopically with increased safety and blood loss.
