Colleton Medical Center Awarded Quality Award

December 3, 2007; Walterboro, SC:  Colleton Medical Center was awarded the first HCA North Florida Division/Carolina & Jacksonville Market Quality Award on Thursday, September 20, 2007. Elaine Kiser, director of quality resource management, accepted the award on behalf of Colleton Medical Center.

The Division/Market Quality Award recognized Colleton Medical Center for having achieved the 90th percentile in three of four quality core measures for the first quarter of 2007. Only eight facilities in HCA have reached this corporate goal.  “Colleton Medical Center is one the elite eight facilities in the company to have achieved 90th percentile in three of four measures,” said Helena Feather, VP, Trident Health System/Carolina Market.

The four measures, each with multiple indicators, are: Heart Failure, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Pneumonia and Surgical Care Improvement Project. Data from the measures are reported to agencies such as JCAHO and CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
