“Comfort Caps” Bring Ease to Children in Critical ConditionApril 3, 2008; Charleston, SC: Everyone hopes for a healthy baby. As a mother of two and grandmother of two healthy children, Holly Jeffries, Vice President of Operations for Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, wanted to do something for parents and children facing different and difficult circumstances.”I love knitting and have created a variety of pieces for my own grandchildren,” said Jeffries. “I decided to make and donate these soft, colorful caps for preemies and babies in critical condition. I hope they will bring some comfort to the parents.” Jeffries goal is to make and donate one hundred comfort caps this year to the neonatal unit at Trident Medical Center. High-risk moms and babies can also be at ease knowing that Trident Health System provides a state-of-the-art Level II neonatal nursery with two board-certified neonatologists, Michael Hoover, M.D., and Arthur Shepard, III, M.D. “An important part of preemies growing and becoming strong is keeping their body temperatures stable,” said Robyn Serody, RN, nurse manager of the Women’s and Children’s Services at Trident Medical Center. “The beautiful comfort caps that Ms. Jeffries made will help keep our newborns warm.” Trident Health System is an HCA hospital system comprised of three acute care hospitals – Trident Medical Center, Summerville Medical Center and Colleton Medical Center – as well as Moncks Corner Medical Center and diagnostic centers throughout Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester counties.
