New CNO Named at Trident Medical CenterFebruary 12, 2008; Charleston, SC: Trident Health System announced today that Cheryl F. Goforth, R.N. has been named chief nursing officer of Trident Medical Center, effective March 1, 2008.Goforth, who holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration, began her career as administrative nursing supervisor at Humana Hospital Cypress, Pompano Beach, Florida in 1974. She transferred to NME Delray Community Hospital, Delray Beach, Florida, in 1988, where she served as nursing administrator until 1987, and then as associate administrator until 1988. After serving as an associate administrator of patient care services for AMI North Ridge Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for five years, she accepted the chief nurse executive position for Southern Hills Medical Center and Smyrna Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1993. Goforth transferred to Columbia Nashville Memorial Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1995 where she served as chief nursing officer/risk manager. In 1997, Goforth accepted the position of chief nursing officer at Fentress County Hospital, Jamestown, Tennessee. She then transferred to Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Kentucky where she served in the roles of chief operating officer, chief nursing officer and transitional care administrator. After serving as the chief nursing officer for Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute, Lawnwood, Florida for five years, Goforth accepted the position of chief nursing officer at Brandon Regional Hospital, Brandon, Florida where she currently resides. “Cheryl’s extensive experience in healthcare – both in the clinical and administrative arena – will prove to be invaluable to Trident Health System, our patients and our community” said Terry J.
