Trident Health System Heroes Win Three of Six Healthcare AwardsDecember 5, 2007; Charleston, SC: On Thursday, November 29, three employees from Trident Health System were named “HealthCare Heroes” by the Charleston Regional Business Journal and WELLPATH, hosts of the 2007 HealthCare Heroes Awards.Trident Health System employees were winners in three of the six award categories, including: Reverend Al Finley – Volunteer – “Community Outreach”, Karen McMillan, RN – “Nurse”, and Mercy Salvatierra, Unit Secretary –“Health Care Professional”. “A Healthcare Hero is anyone who goes above and beyond their call of duty to help others in need,” stated Trident Health System President and CEO Terry Gunn. “We have many heroes at Trident Health System and we are honored to have them as part of our team.” Salvatierra assisted with the alligator attack that occurred on Labor Day 2007; McMillan cares for the women who give birth to stillborn infants; and Reverend Al Finley volunteers to help those in need and never comes in contact with a stranger. In addition, two Trident Health System employees were nominated as finalists: Ann Edlund, RN – Moncks Corner Medical Center – “Community Outreach” and Eileen Beckett – Summerville Medical Center – “Volunteer”.
