Trident Health System Launches ER Texting Service
(Charleston, S.C./ July1, 2009)--Trident Health System continues to improve service in its three emergency departments by providing wait times available via text messaging. Trident is the only health system in the area currently providing this service to patients.
“Patients who have serious medical emergencies such as stroke, cardiac arrest and trauma are always seen immediately; however, we are now able to provide non-emergent patients the opportunity to see our average wait times before they arrive at one of our facilities,” says Cheryl Goforth, RN, chief nursing officer. “We believe patients will have a better understanding of the process and as a result will have a better experience in our ERs.”
Average wait times have been available at www.tridenthealthsystem.com for several months, and now users can take advantage of the latest technological trend by simply texting ER to 23000 then entering their zip code. The average wait times at Trident’s three facilities will be immediately available. Times are approximate and are provided for informational purposes only. In this case, the average wait time is the time it takes for a patient to see a physician after registration.
In the past year, 100,000 patients have chosen Trident Health System for their emergency care. Chief Executive Officer Todd Gallati says, “We are hopeful that residents will be pleased to have this service available. We understand that people have a choice in where they receive care and our goal is to continue to improve the patient experience at all of our facilities.”
