Trident Health System and Curves® Partner to Help Women Take Control of Their Health

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

April 28, 2010; Charleston, SC: Thousands of hospitals and Curves® locations across the country are participating in a national prevention and wellness campaign designed to encourage women to take small steps toward living healthier lives.
?Locally, Trident Health System and Curves® locations across the Lowcountry will offer free doctor-led events during May that will educate women about the importance of managing their health with diet, exercise and annual gynecologic exams. New research confirms that many women put their own health last on their lengthy to-do lists.

Through this collaborative effort, we hope to encourage women to continue taking control of their health and the health of their family members,” said Todd Gallati, President and CEO at Trident Health System. “These events will help reinforce what our physicians tell their patients every day: exercise on a daily basis, maintain a nutritional diet and make their annual doctor visits a priority. We’re showing women how making small changes can lead to surprisingly big health benefits.”
Curves® facilities and local hospitals throughout the United States will host 3,000 events that are planned during the six-week period, many of which will coincide with National Women’s Health Week (May 9-15). At each event, surgeons will speak for 45 minutes about preventive health measures, risks and treatment options for benign gynecologic issues, as well as help encourage women to, ‘pledge to make a check-up.’ Women who attend the events will receive a coupon for 30 days free at participating Curves® locations.
