Trident Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Offering High School Physicals for 20 Years

Monday, April 05, 2010

April 5, 2010; Charleston, SC: Endorsed by the National Federation of State High School Associations, a pre-participation exam can often identify young athletes who may be at risk of health problems while playing sports. Trident Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation (TSM) has provided pre-participation physicals for local high-school athletes for 20 years this year. Over 16,000 physicals have been administered by TSM to student athletes in Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston counties.

“The association that Trident Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation has with Berkeley County schools is invaluable in terms of the care they provide for our student athletes,” said Coach Ray Stackley, athletic director and head football coach at Berkeley High School. “By providing coverage at games, overseeing sports physicals and participating in our Saturday morning injury clinic, they are a great asset to the school, our players and their families.”

Trident Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation physician Dr. Gary Windler has been involved with the pre-participation physicals since 1990. He notes that in addition to the cost savings for the parents, the pre-participation physicals provide the opportunity to do a more in-depth orthopedic examination, which helps to identify some injuries or other musculoskeletal problems that might otherwise go unrecognized.
