Town authorities are investigating what may have led to a body being recovered from a retention pond in Summerville on the afternoon of Feb. 5, at approximately 12:15 p.m.
According to a media release from the Summerville Police Department, an individual found in the Wynfield Forest area was pronounced dead on the scene, with no signs of trauma to the body. Law enforcement is hoping to gather additional evidence from a scheduled autopsy.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office will release the name of the casualty once the next of kin has been contacted.
