Sue, you might want to read the Bible a little more than just one fragmented verse. "Though Shalt Not Commit Adultery" ring a bell. In Corinthians you will find that Christians have the right to hold other Christians accountable for their actions. So Christians can ask Mr. Sanford to step down for his actions as it tarnishes our witness. "We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" and when that sin causes a chritian brother, or sister, to question their faith, it must be dealt with. On another note, God will deal with the ATHEISTS in due order.

Hush up already!

As a woman who has experienced being hurt by adultery I believe cheating with your body is hard enough to swallow, but it is horrid to cheat with your heart as well. Sanford is rubbing salt in the wounds of his wife and providing highly embarrassing food for fodder by divulging details that are NO PUBLIC MATTER. It just makes me sick. How do you make a marriage work when you've publicly announced you have given away the heart it takes to make it? And you are trying to love your wife again? What are you doing, Mr. Governer? Where is your mind? Obviously NOT IN SC! Please stop hurting and humiliating your family and govern this state 100% because obviously you cannot possibly be doing so with the heat you have brought here. I think everyone, including your wife, has heard enough talk. And quit preaching and making all your biblical references - I don't believe what you say. It's hypocritical of you and I lose more respect for you when you do it. Show the people you can govern solidly for the time you have left. Show your wife you can be a husband with respect and loyalty most of all. But for goodness sake, HUSH UP ALREADY!

I've never been a supporter of Sanford's political agenda, but was willing to allow him to serve the remainder of his term. That is, until these dribbles of revelation continue to emerge.I never rejoice in seeing anyone unravel. Cease and desist, Governor! Where are your media advisors? If your personal and moral and professional judgment is so clouded, I really worry about your mental state. We simply cannot have anyone at the helm who can't think straight or is so distracted by personal anguish or lust that they cannot function. Take some time off or resign if you have to. But know that there are consequences to your actions. And how attractive will you be to your illicit paramour when you have no power, no job, and no money? Rather than recite the story of David, you need to remember the saga of Samson. Enough. Enough. Enough!

Oh what a tangled web we weave....

Columbia, SC - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is admitting more encounters with his Argentine mistress than he previously has disclosed. In a lengthy, emotional interview with The Associated Press, the governor described seven meetings with the woman, including their first in 2001. Sanford says there have been five over a 12-month period, including two multi-night stays with her in New York. It was the first disclosure of any get-togethers with her in the United States and contradicted a public confession last week during which he admitted to a total of four encounters in the past year. He previously announced he would reimburse the state for money spent during a government trip to Brazil and Argentina in June 2008. But he insists no public money was used for any other meetings with her

IT IS TIME TO GO!

While the adultery per se was carried on in another country is accurate. If you look a little deeper you will see it is likely that state resources were used to further this crime of moral turpitude. Were emails sent on government computers using government supplied internet access? Was a government vehicle used to travel to the airport to travel to the other country(ies)? Were there any phone calls here or abroad made at government expense? What would have been the punishment for Mark had he not been governor, but a staff member instead. Mark Sanford has betrayed the trust of not only his family, but the lawmakers and citizens of the State of SC. He does not need to try to restore trust in the office of governor by staying in office. He needs to resign in disgrace and let the state move forward. He was a great watch dog for us in Washington, but he has been sleeping on the porch as governor. Do the honorable thing and resign so that you may "spend more time with your family" or whatever excuse you need to make up. Just GO, so we can move forward.

Doesn't take a law degree. As sovereign as the Great State of SC may be, state laws apply to SC only and have no jurisdiction elsewhere, especially in a foreign country.

In addition to stealing the money....
Friday, June 26, 2009 3:51 PM

He also broke the law.....Adultery IS against the law in SC.....SC code of Laws....Title 16-crimes and offenses, Section 16-15-60. The citizens of this state are expected to obey the laws of this state, so what example is it when the chief executive of this sate breaks the law and nothing is done about it. (And please, don't give me that crap about it being an old out of date law....it is still the law).

We all sin, but there is always a price. We can forgive but we must hold people accountable for their actions too. That's called contrition and restitution.
