Dear Mrs. Watts,
Money is the root of all evil. That is the statement of a looter, or a thief. A man that damns money has obtained it dishonorably, or believes money will purchase happiness, or believes it will purchases status, which will soon make him a victim of his own shortcomings.
Money is a means of exchange for the goods and services that men produce. Money is not a tool for the moochers who claim your efforts by tears or the looters, by force. Money is a means of dealing with your fellow man in a civil society, without money then the means of exchange, comes from a muzzle of a gun. “Is this what you consider evil?”(Ayn Rand)
I find myself perplexed by the Republicans that consider what Romney has done as a businessman is somehow unethical or he is taking advantage of the system. The capitalistic system is the most efficient system on the planet to serve your fellow man. In a free market, products that men produce are the means to which men earn money. If we don’t produce things that others want or need, then your business fails and the capital that created your business is liquated. Do you go to Wal-Mart for everyday higher prices?
In this current climate, I watch the dollar. In “Atlas Shrugged,” money is the barometer of a society’s virtue.
When producer must obtain permission for men that produce nothing before they can work, there is a problem. When deals are made, and favors are sold. When government picks the winners and creates laws to protect a favored industry over another.
“When you see corruption rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – you may know your society is doomed.” “Money is so noble a medium that it does not compete with guns and it does not make terms with brutality.”(Atlas Shrugged)
Milton Freeman, on Phil Donahue talked about “Greed.”
“What society does not run on greed? The world runs on individual’s wants to serve their own needs. Was it because of the direction or orders given by a bureaucrat to Henry Ford that made him build his car that way? Countries that don’t practice capitalism have a lower standard of living and the people suffer for it.”
“Does a president pick his cabinet based on virtue or political clout? Is political self-interest nobler than economic self-interest? What groups of angels are going to organize society for you (Phil)? I don’t even trust you to do that Phil,” Milton Freeman said.
“When Money is the root of all evil and society has made the means of survival evil, do not expect men to remain good.” (Ayn Rand)
Collectivism will not work; the only true means of sustainable growth throughout history were societies based on capitalism and or free market system. Remember Republicans; you stand for the free market and the individual. Reread your creed, the one Newt Gingrich helped you write, and ask Newt, are you a capitalist or are you for some other “ism.”
God Bless
