Taken for Granted?

Dear Editor,

As I drove though Summersville’s Town Square last night I realized

how fortunate we who live in the Summerville area are.

I have lived in Summerville for about 10 years.  I will never forget

the first time my wife and I approached the Town Square with all the trees

decorated with white lights. The lights were  placed on all the trees from

the smallest to the largest trees. Every strand of white lights had been placed

with care upon the trees .What a beautiful sight to see. It brought back old

memories. I realized for how many times I and countless others  drove through

the square not really thinking about how the lights got there. It took members of the

business community to care about keeping  Summerville’s Town Square reflecting

the days of an older  simpler time. But that is not the whole story…………..what

about the tireless  hours that were put in by the workers placing each light strand

very carefully on the tree limbs.

Thanks for keeping a part of yesterday alive in Summerville in spite of how large

the surrounding area has become………”God  Rest  Ye Merry Gentleman.”
