Sally the sandy-haired cockapoo, won the day and the title of “Most Patriotic Pet” with her flattering spin on a Betsy Ross look.

Dressed to impress, hot dogs of every shape and size went nose to nose, competing for the coveted “Most Patriotic Pet” title during this year’s Red, White and Blue on the Green celebration.

Paws on pavement weren’t the only things sizzling as the primping pooches strutted their patriotic stuff while wearing themed ensembles.

Some, like Stasia the miniature pinscher went for pure Americana, dressed as an all-American hot dog topped with spicy mustard. Other fashion savvy canines like Beli, an old English bulldog opted for an edgy, eclectic take on Fourth of July fashion, boldly mixing orange goggles with red, white and blue stripes.

There for moral support were other pooches on the sidelines, giving their furry friends their own time to shine. Whitley, a bassett hound of a certain age participated in the Bassett Waddle over the Holidays, but opted to sit out this event.

When all was said and done, Sally the sandy-haired cockapoo won the day and the title of “Most Patriotic Pet” with her flattering spin on a Betsy Ross look. She accessorized her red, white and blue skirt with a white, frilly bonnet and hinted at color with a festive pair of springy star antennae, added to make the look pop  - and hold her bonnet in place.

Most Patriotic Pet's Thanks

We come from New York to a new home in a great town. My family and I can not say enough about the home-town spirit of Summerville and our neighbors. The parade was the first event we ever attended that gave me the opportunity to get all dressed up and slap sloppy kisses on everyone. I got a bag of reward prizes at Doolittles, my picture in the newspaper and a trophy plaque above my bed. My family had a great time, too. Thank you, Summerville, for being so open about us pups. We can chill at outdoor cafes where our families dine, and everywhere we go people offer us water and friendly greetings. The people here really know how to make a "good girl" welcome. Loyally yours, Sally
