Bullets on bus prompts SHS weapons sweep

  • Monday, January 14, 2013

This morning during a second bus route transporting students to a Dorchester District Two elementary school, a student informed the bus driver that there were two bullets on the floor at the back of the bus. The driver immediately retrieved the bullets and notified district officials. The bus had run a route earlier in the morning for Summerville High School.
District security officers working with the Summerville Police Department immediately conducted a thorough security sweep at Summerville High School. The students who rode that bus were all questioned and a search was conducted that included their lockers and utilizing metal detectors. No weapons or ammunition was found. At this time the police have not determined the source of the bullets. The school is on their normal schedule and there will be police officers on campus for the remainder of the day.
