Bond was denied for the latest suspect arrested in connection with the Dec. 19 armed robbery and murder of a Moncks Corner man in Summerville.
During a bond hearing held Wednesday afternoon, Dorchester County Magistrate Judge Katrina Patton denied bond for Christopher John “Rock” Haynes.
DCSO investigators arrested Haynes Tuesday and charged with murder and armed robbery in connection with the murder of William Michael Cummings.
The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at Azalea Park apartment complex on Orangeburg Road near Summerville. Deputies responded to a call about a possible shooting and found Cummings dead in his truck with a gunshot wound to his chest.
After conducting several search warrants and interviews, investigators obtained information that lead to the arrests of three suspects, Enphaie Swarez, 17 and Ramera Stroman, 19, both of Summerville and Dana Andrew Butler Jr., 19, of Ridgeville.
According to information obtained by investigators, the suspects had set up a marijuana purchase from the victim, Nettles said. The female suspects met with the victim to obtain the marijuana and Butler came out of a wooded area with a gun and began firing, which resulted in the death of the victim, he said.
After conducting multiple interviews, Dorchester County Sheriff’s DCSO investigators found that Haynes was also present and assisted Butler in the robbery and homicide, Nettles said.
Swarez, 17 was arrested Dec. 28 and charged with criminal conspiracy in connection with the murder. A judge set her bond at $40,000. DCSO Investigators arrested Stroman on Dec. 30 in connection with the same homicide. She was also charged with Criminal Conspiracy and denied bond, Nettles said. Dana Andrew Butler Jr., 19, of Ridgeville was also arrested on Dec. 30 and charged with Armed Robbery and Murder; his bond was also denied.
Anthony Pierce was driving the vehicle where the victim was located and was charged the night of the shooting with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Criminal Conspiracy; he received a $25,000 bond.
All suspects are currently housed in the Dorchester County Detention Center.
This case is still under investigation and additional arrests and charges may be still be forthcoming, Nettles said.
