First Missionary Baptist Church in Summerville celebrates the 39th Anniversary of Pastor Rev. Dr. Willie E. Givens Jr. with a week of services.
The public is invited to come and help celebrate Dr. Givens’ anniversary.
Services will be held on:
• Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with speaker Dr. Clinton Brantly, pastor of St. Matthew Baptist Church
• Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. with speaker Rev. Dr. Arthur Prioleau, pastor of Memorial Baptist Church in Charleston
• Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. with speaker Rev. Dr. Timothy Simmons Sr., pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in North Charleston
• Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. speaker Rev. Dr. Larry Goss, pastor Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in North Charleston will deliver the anniversary message
Dr. Givens is an anointed and appointed preacher of the Gospel of Christ. He has served as the pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church for the past 39 years during which time his theme has been love. He is disciplined and well-educated in the rudiments of handling the day-to-day activities of pastoring the church.
There are at least 20 active ministries here at First Baptists and Dr. Givens initiated most of them. He is in attendance at all functions at the church. He has served on many boards and commissions. At present he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Morris College in Sumter. From 1999-2009 he served as the First Vice President of the National Baptists Convention USA Inc. He is also past President of Baptists E&M Convention of South Carolina. He is currently serving his final year as Moderator of Charleston County Missionary Baptists Association,
