Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #3433 and Ladies Auxiliary of Ladson was the recipient of the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Outstanding Community Service Post Award at the VFW National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. on Aug. 23 during a reception sponsored by Target.
Criteria to receive the award are set by the VFW State Headquarters for recognizing Posts’ community service work in their local areas. This year, 69 VFW Posts from across the nation received this national award. Each Post receives a reflective street sign to display in their city recognizing this award. These Posts are outstanding examples of the over 11 million hours of community service valued at over $300 million performed by VFW volunteers last year.
“Through our community service program, we help build a better, stronger America, and we fulfill our commitment to serve America’s veterans and their families. This Post has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to their community. Their exemplary service is an example to citizens across this great nation,” said VFW Commander-in-Chief Thomas J. Tradewell Sr.
In addition to community service efforts, the VFW assists veterans and their families to obtain veterans’ entitlements and other services for the wellbeing of those serving on active duty in the National Guard and the Reserves. The VFW was founded in 1899. There are 2.1 million members of the VFW and its auxiliaries, located in approximately 7,800 Posts worldwide.
