Officer struck by vehicle, injured

Summerville Police Officer is in the hospital with undisclosed injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle early Wednesday morning. According to SPD Capt. Jon Rogers, the officer, who was working a collision on Highway 78 near Cedar Street, was struck as he crossed the roadway by a motor vehicle traveling East on U.S. 78. The officer, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to MUSC for treatment of injuries received in the collision. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
