Pineridge- Firefighters in Pineridge battle more than fires. This past summer, firefighters teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the 2010 “Boot Drive”. The firefighters spent multiple weekends in the summer heat trying to “fill the boot”. These “Boot Drives” offer the community a chance to donate money that will be used in the battle against neuromuscular diseases.

This year the community embraced the efforts of the Pineridge Volunteer Fire Department by raising $430.

The proceeds collected from the Pineridge Volunteer Fire Department will aid local children and adults affected by neuromuscular diseases by providing wheelchairs, leg braces, clinical visits, support groups, and a chance for children to attend the local MDA camp held in Rincon, Georgia.

For over 55 years, firefighters and MDA have partnered to fight neuromuscular disease. MDA applauds these heroes, who not only battle flames, but muscular dystrophy. Please help “fill a boot” and make a difference.
