Primary Candidates Forum set for Tuesday

Summerville Journal Scene ®

Candidates for both local and state offices have confirmed they will attend a primary candidate debate at Pinewood Preparatory’s Smith Hall on Tuesday, co-sponsored by The Summerville Journal Scene and Summerville Chamber of Commerce.

The public is invited to attend and hear what the candidates have to say on a number of issues that concern citizens the most.

Everyone is welcome to email questions for the candidates to rberry@greatersummerville.org with “candidate question” in the subject line.

The forum is set for May 25 from 6-8 p.m. The primary election will be held on June 8.

The following candidates have confirmed they will be participating:

County Council District 2:

  • Haskell Brown (R )
  • David Chinnis (R )
  • James Stein (R )

County Council District 3:

  • George Bailey (R)
  • Matthew Creel (D)
  • Kenny Waggoner (D)

County Council District 7:

  • Jay Byars ( R )
  • Jamie Feltner (R )

State House 98:

  • Larry Hargett (R)
  • Chrissy Jackson (D)
  • Chris Murphy (R)
  • Steve Yeomans  (D)
Pinewood Preparatory School is located at 1114 Orangeburg Rd. in Summerville.
