Spanish Storytime at The Dorchester County Library

“Érase una vez”, “Once upon a time” in Spanish is what story time goers will be hearing Friday, Feb. 17 as Dorchester County Library offers its first ever Spanish language story time for library patrons.   The story hour begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Westvaco Room of the Seago Library on Trolley Road.  The Library has partnered with the Language and Visual Arts Department at Charleston Southern University to develop and present the program, which will be conducted entirely in Spanish.  Children’s Services Coordinator Jason Reed contacted the department last year about the possibility of offering a story time geared to the Spanish population in the county.  Dr. Pamela Peek, the Department Chair and a Spanish instructor, was very receptive to the idea.  Meetings began to discuss program content and delivery.  The results of their work will culminate Friday as the Spanish Story time takes place.  Dr. Peek will be the primary storyteller. Members of the Spanish Language Honor Society will be assisting her in presenting the program. For more information, call the Children’s Services Department at 871-5075.
