Edreone Brockington is one of four seniors who played their last basketball game in a Green Wave jersey on Wednesday.

Summerville was eliminated from the Class AAAA boys’ basketball playoffs Wednesday with a 64-42 loss to White Knoll.

“We had a good year, but it’s a shame we had to kind of stumble down the stretch,” Summerville coach Greg Elliott said. “Still, it was a good ride and these kids left a good legacy with back-to-back region championships. I’m proud of them.”

The Green Wave (13-12) fell behind early in the game as White Knoll (14-13) hit some shots to loosen up Summerville’s man-to-man defense.

Summerville had a hard time catching up, but did cut the lead to 5 in the third period. Unfortunately for Summerville, White Knoll finished strong to secure the win and advance to the second round Saturday to face South Florence.

“We are playing our best basketball right now,” White Knoll coach Bret Jones said. “Our two post players, Keith Jumper and Julian Johnson, played really well, especially in the second half. Summerville likes a lot of stuff around the basket and I think we did a good job of blocking some shots and contesting those we didn’t block. We also did a good job rebounding.”

The Timberwolves held Summerville All-state guard J.D. Tucker to only 2 points in the game. While he drew much of White Knoll’s attention, he didn’t draw a single foul during the game.

“We didn’t shoot that well and blew some opportunities in the first quarter,” Elliott said. “But White Knoll also played well. They come from a tough region so we weren’t surprised they didn’t play like a No. 4 seed. They were determined to not let J.D. Tucker beat them and they did a good job with that. This is disappointing for him and our other seniors so I feel bad for them. We just picked a real bad time to have a bad shooting night.”

Emarius Logan led all scorers in the game with 19 points. Johnson added 14 points for White Knoll and Jumper added 13.

Junior Brandon Wilkerson led Summerville with 13 points. John Jenkins added 8 for Summerville and both Edreone Brockington and Chris McKinnon added 7.
