A man is dead after a train struck the vehicle he was driving at a crossing in St. George.
According to St. George Police Chief Anthony Britt, the accident occurred Sunday around 5 p.m. at a crossing on NW Railroad Avenue near Ann Street in St. George.
The driver of the vehicle was attempting to cross the tracks before the train arrived. The crossing has no lights or arms, but there are several signs, including a stop sign, which the driver apparently disregarded, Britt said.
The driver was a firefighter with the Grover Fire Department but was not on his way to a call when the accident occurred, Britt said.
