According to the American Heart Association, coronary heart disease and stroke are the first and third leading causes of death in the United States, accounting for more than 40 percent of all deaths. Fortunately, early detection of risk factors and lifestyle changes can reduce your risk. In an effort to help you identify these risks and symptoms, Trident Health System will provide our “Heart Month Lecture Series,” Heart Health screenings and the latest information to help you lead a healthier lifestyle. Trident Health System’s “Heart Month Lecture Series” seminars will be conducted from noon to ?1 p.m. at Trident Medical Center. The seminars are open to the public at no charge and a light lunch will be provided. The “Heart Month Lecture Series” schedule is as follows: - “Time is Muscle, Muscle is Time” with Dr. Mark Epler, Dr. Chris Kennedy, Dr. Matthew Wallen and Doug Warren, Dorchester County EMS Director – Feb. 4 at Trident Medical Center. - “Women and Heart Health” with Dr. Scott Woodfield – Feb. 11 at Trident Medical Center. - “Advance Treatments for Heart Failure” with Dr. Brett Baker – Feb. 18 at Trident Medical Center. - “Advances in Heart Surgery” with Dr. James Benner – Feb. 25 at Trident Medical Center. Heart Health Screenings will be held prior to the “Heart Month Lecture Series” seminars from 9:15 – 11:30 a.m. by appointment. Screenings will include: lipid profile, height and weight, BMI, blood pressure and H1N1 vaccines. The screenings are free to H2U members and $25 for non-members.
