John E. Bussjager, 74, of Summerville, SC, husband of Tara L. Bussjager, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at M.U.S.C.
A gathering of friends and family was held on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock PM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville, SC. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Northbrook, Illinois at a later date.
Mr. Bussjager was born and raised in Winnetka, Illinois. He was a 1955 graduate of New Trier High School and 1960 graduate of University of Illinois, earning his degree in Fine Arts and Advertising Design. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. After completing his military service he pursued a 35-year career in television advertising at Needham Harper and Steers and Leo Burnet ad agencies in Chicago and as a Vice President Creative Director at Campbell Mithun ad agency in Minneapolis. After retiring to Charleston, SC, he continued his career and passion as a gifted artist. He was a member of the Summerville Artists Guild, the American Sealyham Terrier Club and he loved to bowl and read.
He is survived by his loving family: wife: Tara, sons: Christopher and Justin, daughters: Erica and Taryn, daughter-in-laws: Amelia and Megan, his beautiful grandchildren Avery, Jack, Coda and Haley, and his faithful dog Archie.
