Barbara Anne Clancy, 84, long time resident of Summerville, widow of William E. Clancy, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at her home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 4 until 6 o’clock at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11 o’clock at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Clancy was born April 5, 1928 in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Harry D. Bailey and _Lillian Mae Brown Bailey. She was the proprietor of the Victorian House in Summerville where she pursued her dream of catering. The Victorian House was built in 1890 in Summerville. She restored the home and received a Restoration Award from the Preservation Society of Summerville. She was President of St. Theresa’s Women Guild and founding member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She received the 2004 award for 20 years of service and the 2009 award for 25 years of service from the Historic Charleston Foundation and was a docent and a garden docent for festival of houses and gardens. She also received a 25 year Pin from Historical Foundation Society of Charleston.
She is survived by one son and one daughter: David S. Clancy of Summerville and Mary Lou Cercopely (Frank) of Summerville, two grandchildren: Ryan Cercopely and Lauren Cercopely both of Summerville, one sister: Patsy Allman of St. Petersburg, Florida.
She was predeceased by her son: Patrick A. Clancy.
