Mr. Harold Davis Hunt passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 13th, 2010 in his home.
Mr. Hunt was born in Oconee County, South Carolina. He was a son of the late Lee Davis Hunt and the late Ellen Cromer Hunt and was married to Elizabeth Rodgers Hunt. Mr. Hunt was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, member of the choir, and Sunday School Superintendent for 30 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Third Division under General George S. Patton during World War II. Mr. Hunt landed in Normandy, France and received three campaign medals for his fighting in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal and served in the Army of Occupation in Germany for three months after the war. Mr. Hunt was the owner and operator of Lake City Plumbing and Electric Company, retiring from their in 1980. He enjoyed being civically active in his community where he served as a member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge, the Lake City American Legion, and the Lake City V.F.W. Post.
Mr. Hunt’s surviving family includes his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Rodgers Hunt, of the home; his two daughters, Pamela Miles (Bobby) of Lake City and Harolyn Hess (Michael) of Summerville; his four grandchildren, Hal Hess and Mikael Hess, both of Summerville, and Clif Lee (Sheron) of Florence and Chris Lee (Amanda) of Statesboro, GA; his four great-grandchildren, Braeden Lee, Grayson Lee, Collen Lee, and Noah Lee; his sister, Sara Lee Shirley of Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hunt is preceded in death by his two brothers, Alfred Hunt and Ralph Hunt, and his sister, Eleanor Hunt Breazeale.
The family of Mr. Hunt will have visitation from six until eight o’clock p.m., Friday, January 15th, 2010 in the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Hunt will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Saturday, January 16th, 2010 in the New Zion Baptist Church in Camp Branch. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
