Eleanor A. Knight, 75, of Summerville, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at her residence.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 11 o’clock at Bethany United Methodist Church, Spell Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be private. A gathering of family and friends will be held at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville, from 6 until 8 o’clock Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Hospice of Charleston, 4975 LaCross Road, Ste. 200, North Charleston, SC 29406 or to the Music Department of Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 West 3rd St. South, Summerville, SC 29483.
Mrs. Knight was born December 30, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late John Raymond Alexander and Margaret Flenniken Alexander. She was a graduate of Summerville High School. She was a majorette in high school. She loved to shag and knitted the best damn dishcloths. She was the best cook and baker ever and the best rice cooker for Trae. She played bridge and loved music, her family and friends. She was the organizer of her class reunions. She retired as a bookkeeper in real estate and construction.
She is survived by her son and daughter: Cathy Knight Carroll (Bobby) of Goose Creek and Chip Knight (Mindy) of Summerville; grandchildren: Hattie Ratliff (Dan) of Hummelstown, Pa, Margaret Weisser (Will) of Cherry Hill, NJ, Haden Knight of Fort Mill, SC and Trae Knight of Summerville, three great grandchildren, one brother: John “Jack” Raymond Alexander, Jr. (Kim) of McCellanville, one sister: Carolyn Salter (Stanley) of McCellanville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and three sisters: Peggy Alexander, Shirley Gibson (Ernest) and Mary Alice Coley.
