Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Thursday, February 25, 2010, Lynn James Nielsen of Summerville, SC. Funeral services were held at St. George’s Episcopal Church, Saturday, February 27, 2010, at ten o’clock. Interment was at St. Paul’s Episcopal Churchyard, Summerville, SC. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Mr. Nielsen was born on February 16, 1917 in Clifton, AZ the son of Harry Nielsen and Grace Raines Nielsen. He was a career pilot learning to fly at the age of sixteen and retired as a Senior Captain with Eastern Airlines. He was a member of St. George Episcopal Church in Summerville, SC.
He is survived by his daughters, Nadine Nielsen Lomax and her husband Bill of Summerville, SC, Kathleen Nielsen Michaels and her husband Ray of Highlands, NC; son, Christopher Norwood Nielsen and his wife Fay of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Laverene Nielsen Lange of Des Plains, IL; sister-in-law, Janice Nielsen of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren: Kathryn Lomax Sams and her husband Justin, Megan Lomax Emery and her husband Turner, Lindsey Lindgren Kurz and her husband Chris, Jennifer Fuqua Fowler and her husband Terance, Lauren Brooks Fuqua, Margaret Paige Nielsen, Charles Sancken Nielsen; six great-grandchildren: Wade Sams, Will Sams, Mary Mac Emery, Elizabeth Kurz, Brooks Fowler and Charles Fowler. He was predeceased by an infant son, Lynn James Nielsen, Jr.
Memorials may be made to St George’s Episcopal Church Building Fund, 9110 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485 and/or a charity of one’s choice.
